Jason is an Associate and Solicitor Advocate in the Insurance and Reinsurance group based in our Sheffield office, specialising in litigation costs and funding within the Health Claims team.  Jason has worked with CMS since 2015 defending industrial disease claims for a government client and expanding into costs and litigation funding. Jason came from dealing with claimant costs for a national personal injury practice and brings this level of knowledge to the team.

As part of the CMS Costs team Jason advises both internal and external clients on a wide range of costs disputes across the entirety of the firm's litigation practice including, but not limited to, international arbitration, technology, intellectual property and property claims.  Jason has acted for a number of clients including Government departments, technology companies and major insurer clients to name a few.

Jason now both drafts bills of costs and successfully recovers these for clients in litigation. Jason also defends clients in costs litigation in unsuccessful claims by drafting written submissions and running matters through to assessment. He also prepares costs budgets, budget discussion reports and undertakes negotiations on costs at various junctures. Jason has a particular interest in advising on strategy and settlement.

Jason has obtained higher rights accreditation and is authorised to appear as a higher court advocate (civil). Jason aims to build upon his prior advocacy experience having been called to the Bar of England and Wales previously. Jason has appeared on behalf of clients in costs related hearings such as CMCs, directions and interim application hearings.
