Laura is an Associate in the Employment Team in the Edinburgh office. She advises clients across a range of sectors, with a particular focus on financial services clients, providing strategic advice on both contentious and non-contentious employment law matters.
Laura has extensive experience acting for respondents in Employment Tribunal litigation, defending a broad range of claims including unfair dismissal, discrimination, whistleblowing and breaches of contract. She regularly manages complex and high-value disputes from inception through to final hearing, advising clients on litigation strategy and risk management.
Alongside her litigation practice, Laura advises on a wide range of day-to-day employment law issues, including disciplinary and grievance processes, performance and absence management, workplace investigations and redundancy exercises. She also regularly advises employers on settlement agreements and senior departures, helping clients navigate sensitive workplace issues in a pragmatic and commercially focused manner.
Laura has particular experience supporting financial services with their employment law needs, providing both ongoing advisory support and representation in contentious matters. She works closely with HR teams and senior stakeholders to deliver practical solutions aligned with clients’ commercial objectives and regulatory obligations.
In addition to her client work, Laura is actively involved in the firm’s knowledge and innovation initiatives. She contributes to internal training and knowledge sharing programmes and has particular interest in the use of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies within legal practice, supporting the adoption of innovative tools to improve efficiency and client service delivery.
