Sustainable finance is moving up the corporate agenda for both borrowers and lenders. It’s not difficult to see why: companies increasingly have environmental, social and governance (ESG) objectives built into their strategies, while financial institutions have targets for providing sustainability-linked financing.
There is already almost US$3trn of funds held in sustainable funds, 84% of which are held in European funds. A fifth of the assets under management in Europe are sustainable investments.
In this briefing note we discuss:
- What sustainability-linked financing is
- What the fundraising options are
- How the finance is sustainability-linked
- The key things that borrowers and lenders need to know.
