On 1 June 2023 the Unified Patent Court (UPC) opened its doors. It now allows the enforcement of patents across several European jurisdictions in a single court proceeding, providing a simpler and expedited path.

In the UPC’s early days of operation, we look at the key issues and take-aways impacting all companies with innovative activities operating in Europe. We draw conclusions from its first decisions, so you can be prepared for what’s to come and keep your patents safe.

CMS is delighted to invite you to an in-person afternoon session on this topic on 1 February 2024 in the CMS Munich office. The session will also be broadcast online.

This event will gather CMS patent experts (lawyers and patent attorneys) from several jurisdictions, including Austria, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, United Kingdom, to draw conclusions from the early days of the UPC’s operation and give an overview of what that means for your patent strategy. In addition, we will host a panel discussion, where industry representatives will share their experiences with the UPC.

The event will be held in English and the attendance is free of charge. It will be followed by a networking cocktail, where you can exchange views with experts and other participants.
