David Bujgl is an associate in the Banking & Finance team at CMS Czech Republic, advising on complex domestic and cross-border financing transactions. He has developed a strong practice across the debt finance spectrum, with a particular focus on acquisition and leveraged finance, structured lending and real estate finance. 

He advises leading Czech and international banks, sponsors and corporate borrowers on bilateral, club and syndicated facilities and refinancings. He is regularly involved in large, high-profile transactions, including multi-jurisdictional financings and sophisticated debt structures, often supported by complex security packages and involving foreign law elements. 

David is praised by clients for his practical mindset, meticulous attention to detail, collaborative style and ability to navigate complex documentation. 

Beyond transactional work, David is a co-author of a respected commentary on the Czech Civil Code and of the first-ever Czech practitioners' guide focused on specific types of banking and finance transactions.

Relevant experience

  • A syndicate of banks consisting of Komerční banka, ČSOB, Česká spořitelna, UniCredit Bank Czech Republic and Slovakia, and Raiffeisenbank on real estate financing for the Penta group. The transaction involved a long-term care healthcare portfolio comprising 21 entities, including the Dr. Pírka Clinic.
  • UniCredit Bank Czech Republic and Slovakia on the refinancing of BigBoard Praha a.s., the leading force in premium outdoor advertising in the Czech Republic.
  • PPF Bank on cross-border financing for the Delta Ange Battery Storage project, a major battery energy storage project (70 MW / 160 MWh) in the Västernorrland region of Sweden.
  • A syndicate of Czech and Slovak banks, led by Komerční banka, on multiple top-up facilities to Penta Hospitals International, underscoring Penta Hospitals International's robust performance and promising growth trajectory across the Czech Republic, Poland, and Slovakia.
  • Česká spořitelna on financing provided to Zwg.wine holding in connection with the acquisition of a majority stake in ZNOVÍN ZNOJMO, a.s., one of the largest wineries in the Czech Republic.
  • A syndicate of Czech banks led by Česká spořitelna on complex cross-border financing for the Smarty BRANDS. Group. The financing serves to refinance the group's existing indebtedness while also providing additional funds for operational needs of the group and its investment targets.
  • A syndicate of Czech banks led by Česká spořitelna on complex financing for the SILON Group, including a sustainability linked loan, which is linked to the environmental goals of the entire group.
  • A syndicate of banks consisting of UniCredit Bank Czech Republic and Slovakia and Československá obchodní banka on complex financing transactions involving EUROMEDIA GROUP, including (i) refinancing of existing debt and financing for the acquisition of a 100% share in PEMIC BOOKS, and (ii) financing for the acquisition of part of the KANZELSBERGER group, comprising 26 bookstores. EUROMEDIA GROUP is the main pillar of the private equity fund Rockaway Alpha.
  • A syndicate of Czech banks led by Komerční banka, and further consisting of Česká spořitelna, UniCredit Bank Czech Republic and Slovakia, and Všeobecná úverová banka, on a club financing for NET4GAS, the exclusive gas transmission system operator in the Czech Republic (and wholly owned by the Czech Republic) operating more than 4,000 km of pipelines.
  • A syndicate of banks on financing provided to a state enterprise involved in the Czech defence aerospace industry for the acquisition of military training aircraft.
