Event details
Programme

CMS Scotland, Fraser of Allander Institute, and CBI Scotland invite you to join us for Skills for the Future: Unlocking Potential Through Apprenticeships.
This panel event will bring together Scottish businesses and policymakers involved in skills policy to continue this important conversation following the launch of “Skills for Today and Tomorrow” Thought Leadership report in October 2024.
The discussion occurs against the backdrop of recent developments by the UK Government, which is undertaking a review of the skills system in England. This includes the establishment of “Skills England” and the rebranding of the Apprenticeship Levy to the
“Growth and Skills Levy.” While the exact implications for apprenticeship funding and policy in England remain unclear, they provide a timely context for reconsidering the system in Scotland.
Contributors include:
- Professor Mairi Spowage, Director, Fraser of Allander
- James Withers, Author of the Independent Review of the Skills Delivery Landscape in Scotland and former CEO, Scotland Food and Drink
- Miles Briggs MSP, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party
- Willie Rennie MSP, Scottish Liberal Democrats
- Michelle Ferguson, CBI Scotland Director
- Daniel Johnson MSP, Scottish Labour
Further details on the agenda and additional speakers will be announced soon.
Join us for this important conversation on shaping Scotland’s skills and apprenticeship system to better align with the needs of a changing economy.
