Modern slavery and human trafficking

Module 1 – for all staff 

This course has been designed to provide you with an introduction to modern slavery and human trafficking and the legal requirements on organisations relating to transparency in supply chains as set out in the Modern Slavery Act 2015. Through the use of interactive examples, you will learn about the many associated risks and how you can support your organisation to mitigate such risks. 

Module 2 – for management 

This course is designed for those within your organisation who may be accountable for issues relating to modern slavery and human trafficking. Its purpose is to enable you to better understand your role and to ensure you are aware of the legal requirements that apply when publishing a modern slavery statement. 

Who is it for?

The first module is aimed at all staff and provides a generic introduction to what modern slavery and human trafficking is, how to recognise common signs and the correct reporting processes when identifying potential risks. The second module is specifically designed for people who take ownership and are accountable for your organisation’s compliance and who need to ensure issues of modern slavery and human trafficking are correctly reported. 

Course objectives
 

Module 1 – for all staff 

By the end of this course, you will know:
 

  • What is meant by modern slavery and human trafficking. 
  • How to spot the signs and correctly report cases of modern slavery and human trafficking. 
  • The aims & requirements of the transparency obligations in the Modern Slavery Act 2015. 
  • The practical steps your organisation is taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in its business and supply chain. 
  • Key business risks and consequences of non-compliance with modern slavery regulations. 

Module 2 – for management 

By the end of this course, you will: 

 

  • Understand the legal requirements relating to publishing a modern slavery statement. 
  • Be aware of the implications if your organisation gets it wrong. 
  • Understand your role in taking ownership and being accountable for your organisation`s compliance. 
  • Understand how requirements relating to modern slavery statements fit into the wider ESG initiatives.
