Edward is Of Counsel in the CMS UK Employment team. He has developed a practice advising UK and international employer clients across a number of sectors and industries including primarily technology, media and financial services.

He advises on the full range of employment-related issues, with a particular focus on employment tribunal litigation, including high value discrimination and whistleblowing claims. Edward’s non-contentious experience includes working closely with clients’ in-house legal and HR teams on day-to-day issues, negotiating senior level service agreements and exits, advising on collective redundancy situations and the employment aspects of business transfers.  

Edward regularly presents training and seminars on various employment law issues and developments and has been recognised in Legal 500 as a “Leading Associate” and in Chambers and Partners as "very technically able, collaborative, easy to work with and gets the job done", with “faultless technical knowledge” and who impresses with the “clear advice and support he provides”. 
 

Relevant experience

  • Multinational clients in relation to their strategic approaches to outsourcing and contingent staffing, including on issues such TUPE and IR35.
  • A global media and financial services client against a whistleblowing claim, including successfully defending against an application for interim relief and an appeal to the EAT regarding complex points of law relating to the whistleblowing legislation.
  • A client in the Cout of Appeal in relation to issues relating to legal privilege.
