Emma is a Senior Associate in the Employment team who advises clients on a broad range of employment matters of both a contentious and non-contentious nature. 

She is a go-to person for ad-hoc HR queries, supporting clients through day-to-day employee relations matters such as grievances, disciplinaries and terminations, as well as TUPE transfers and restructuring exercises. She also has vast experience preparing/reviewing suites of employment documents such as contracts, policies and procedures. 

Emma works closely with our transactional departments, assisting on solvent and insolvent acquisitions and sales, with a particular focus on private equity backed deals.

Outside of her legal practice, Emma sits on the firm’s One North Charity Committee and co-leads on the Sheffield CMS Link initiative.  

Relevant experience

  • A large retail client in connection with a self-review and HMRC investigation into payment of the National Minimum Wage.
  • A number of project investors and project companies in connection with the change of service provider on various private and public sector projects following the collapse of Carillion.
  • A leading integrated waste management company in relation to employment due diligence as part of an auction process, and the eventual purchase of a waste recycling business, including considerations relating to the application of TUPE to staff not employed by the target entity.
  • On the employment aspects of the takeover of Bulb Energy by Octopus Energy, involving the UK’s first statutory energy transfer scheme and the associated TUPE transfer of hundreds of employees.
