What will be the most important market trend affecting your clients’ sector over the next 12 months?

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). I see GDPR affecting clients in two ways. Firstly, the management of relevant data in pre-litigation has become significantly more challenging. Secondly, the new GDPR regime looks set to create real challenges for clients on general compliance.

Satisfied clients who return again and again.

What has been your most memorable day as a lawyer?

Many years ago, we defended an injunction application trying to prevent our client from delisting its preference shares. The injunction failed, our client was able to proceed. We had it all wrapped up in time for the firm’s annual party that evening and it was reported in newspaper business sections the following day as a defining moment in corporate history: the end of the listed preference share!
