CMS advises Bruker Corporation on the acquisition of a majority stake in MIMETAS
CMS has advised Bruker Corporation on the acquisition of a majority stake in MIMETAS B.V., a Leiden-based developer of advanced organ-on-a-chip platforms and human tissue models for pharmaceutical research.
Bruker is a global technology company and supplier of scientific instruments to the pharmaceutical industry, listed on the Nasdaq in New York with a market capitalisation in excess of $8 billion. The investment in MIMETAS strengthens Bruker's position in the field of Microphysiological Systems (MPS) and New Approach Methodologies (NAMs), based on human physiological models.
MIMETAS was founded by Paul Vulto and Jos Joore and has grown into a leading company in organ-on-a-chip technology, which replicates human organ function on a miniature scale. Among other applications, the technology can serve as an alternative to certain animal testing and is designed to improve success rates in costly clinical trials for new medicines. With approximately 100 employees, MIMETAS serves pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients worldwide. This makes it the first organ-on-a-chip company to be integrated into a larger corporate group.
The CMS team comprised Elmer Veenman, Carola de Bruijn, Robin Sijbesma, Tijl Poen, Elisabeth von Meijenfeldt, Laura Jacobs, Jenny Noordermeer, Ya-line Moes, Ellen Gielen, Judith Kok, Cilia van Nierop, Fleur van Assendelft de Coningh, Merel Kroneman, Merel van Vliet, Iza van As, Jeroen Boelens, Lauren Delleman, Laura Zanting, Wout Olieslagers, Inge Hajema, Pieter Jordans, Tijmen Brune, Malaika van der Ploeg, Edith Timmer, Annemieke Hazelhoff and Ramesh Kaushik.
