Decree-Law no. 155/2026 of 31 July has been published, introducing the first amendment to Decree-Law no. 93/2025 of 14 August, which approved the new Legal Framework for Electric Mobility (the “RJME”).
The RJME initially provided for a transitional period ending on 31 December 2026, aimed at ensuring a gradual transition from the previous electric mobility model, based on the Mobi.E network, to the new framework established by the RJME.
However, the Government’s ongoing engagement with operators and other stakeholders in the electric mobility sector highlighted the need for an additional period to allow for the adaptation of contractual arrangements, technological systems, platforms and operational procedures.
Against this background, Decree-Law no. 155/2026 extends the transitional period by one year, until 31 December 2027, with a view to ensuring the effective implementation of the new legal framework (see Article 44(1) of the RJME).
Accordingly, charging point operators with charging points already installed on the date of entry into force of the RJME must notify the entity responsible for managing the platform, by 31 December 2027, whether they intend all or only some of their charging points to be disconnected from that platform.
Decree-Law no. 155/2026 entered into force on 1 August 2026.
