   A. Energy Storage Auctions

Orders No. 12924-B/2026 and No. 12924-C/2026 have been published, launching the competitive procedures for the allocation of grid injection capacity reservation rights in the Public Electricity Grid (RESP) for:

  • Standalone electricity storage facilities, up to a maximum of 750 MVA, distributed across the grid connection points identified in the Procedure Programme; and
  • Renewable energy generation facilities with co-located storage, up to a maximum of 300 MVA, distributed across the grid connection points identified in the Procedure Programme.

Although the Orders formally launch the procedures, the corresponding tender documents are yet to be made available on the DGEG website and on the electronic platform for interested parties.

For further information, the Order relating to co-located storage is available here, and the Order relating to standalone storage is available here.

   B. Technical Conditions and Requirements for the Connection of Storage Facilities to the RESP

Ministerial Order No. 464-A/2026/1 has also been published, establishing the general technical conditions and requirements applicable to the connection of storage facilities to the RESP. Among other matters, the Ministerial Order sets out requirements relating to frequency response, operation in Grid Forming mode, and the provision of synthetic inertia.

The general technical conditions and requirements established by the Ministerial Order apply to new storage facilities, as well as to the expansion, modernisation or partial or complete replacement of equipment forming part of storage facilities that inject electricity into the RESP, whenever such works constitute a significant modification.

The Ministerial Order enters into force on the day following its publication.

For further information, the Ministerial Order is available here.
