The CMS Employment team is delighted to invite you to join us for the next instalment in our “Lunchtime Learning” series - Dismissals 101.

In this series of four half an hour “bitesize” webinars, we will go back to basics on different aspects of the law relating to dismissals, covering the practical issues which arise when effecting dismissals for some of the ‘potentially fair’ reasons: redundancy, gross misconduct and capability (both ill-health and performance).

This series is primarily aimed at those in your organisation who would welcome a refresher on the law on dismissals or for those with limited experience in this area.

Part 1 - Thursday 1 July: Redundancy

Focusing primarily on redundancy procedure where fewer than 20 employees are proposed to be made redundant, Andy Atwell and Abbie Harley map out the key considerations employers should have in mind to avoid an unfair dismissal claim, including: pooling; selection; ranking; individual consultation; suitable alternative employment; and appeals.

You will find further information about each of the webinars below together with a link to register.

Thursday 1 July - Part 1:  Redundancy - Andy Atwell and Abbie Harley

Thursday 15 July - Part 2: Performance - Laura Lobb and Clare Heggie

Thursday 22 July - Part 3: Gross Misconduct - Gavin Macgregor and Samantha Love

Thursday 29 July - Part 4: Ill Health - Molly Grace and Rebecca Hayes

All webinars start at 12 noon (UK time).

Please feel free to invite other colleagues who may have an interest in the topics covered by the webinars. We are pleased to confirm there is no charge for these webinars; we very much hope that you will be able to join us.
