The Scottish Executive has issued a revised Planning Advice Note (PAN) Number 33, "Development of Contaminated Land", to replace the previous PAN 33 which was issued in 1988.
The revised PAN 33 gives advice on:
- the implications of the new contaminated land regime for the planning system
- the development of contaminated land
- the approach to contaminated land in development plans
- the determination of planning applications when the site is or may be contaminated.
The Note also contains 2 annexes, one explaining the remediation process, the other providing a checklist for processing an application for development on a contaminated site.
The Note can be downloaded from http://www.scotland.gov.uk/library/pan/pan33-00.asp.
