Sunil is a Partner in the Infrastructure, Construction and Energy (ICE) Disputes Group and is a qualified Solicitor Advocate.

He advises on dispute avoidance and claims arising out of large energy and infrastructure projects both internationally and in the UK. For many years he advised on one of the world’s largest construction arbitrations. His recent experience includes advising on disputes concerning LNG plants, FPSOs, gas pipelines, LNG terminals, biomass plants and solar plants in Asia-Pacific, North America, Africa, Israel, Continental Europe and the UK.  Sunil previously spent 5 years working in Singapore. 

Sunil has been recognised as a leading lawyer in directories since 2020 and is currently co-chair of the Society of Construction Law, India, Young International Council.

Relevant experience

  • A JV on the delivery of a major LNG Project in North America. Sunil advised on significant defect and delay and disruption claims valued at more than USD 2bn.*
  • A global energy company in a c.USD 2bn ICC Singapore seated arbitration concerning claims arising out of the construction of a USD 40bn LNG plant in Western Australia.*
  • The same global energy company in a c.USD 160m ICC Perth Seated arbitration in respect of claims arising out of a contract for dredging works.*
  • An international hydrocarbon exploration and production company in respect of claims arising out of the delayed and defective construction of an FPSO valued in excess of USD 200m.*
  • A consortium of Project Sponsors in ICC Fast Track proceedings in respect of claims arising out of the construction of a solar plant in Africa.*
  • The operator of a major gas pipeline in respect of claims arising out of project delays including due to unforeseen site conditions and COVID-19 and Defects.*
  • The operator of a UK biomass power station in respect of claims arising out of construction delays including due to COVID-19.*
  • Two development banks in a c.GBP 40m LCIA London seated arbitration in respect of claims arising out of the cancellation of two Loan Agreements for the construction of Oil Terminals, as well as ancillary proceedings that had been initiated in Ghana.*
  • Two Philippine corporates in a c.USD 150m ICC Hong Kong seated arbitration in respect of disputes arising out of a joint venture agreement and a take or pay supply agreement concerning the construction and operation of a solar wafer facility.*
