Berlin - US-based biospecimen and biomarker specialist Discovery Life Sciences has acquired Targos Molecular Pathology GmbH. The acquisition of one of the largest molecular pathology laboratories in Europe marks Discovery's first transaction of its kind in Germany. With the acquisition Discovery Life Sciences further expands its role as a global service provider for biomarker development, clinical trial support and in-market clinical pathology training in the fields of immunotherapy, companion diagnostic and other precision medicine programs. All parties involved have agreed not to disclose details of the transaction.
A CMS team led by Lead Partner Dr Igor Stenzel and Counsel Patrick M Lühr provided comprehensive legal advice to Discovery Life Sciences. The team also relied on the in-house healthcare expertise of Hamburg based partner Dr Roland Wiring.
Discovery Life Sciences, based in Huntsville, Alabama (USA), combines the world's largest commercial biospecimen inventory and procurement network with preeminent multi-omic biomarker service laboratories to accelerate precision medicine programs for cancer, infectious diseases and other complex conditions.
Targos Molecular Pathology GmbH, based in Kassel, Germany, has been providing highly standardized clinical biomarker development and utilization to the international pharmaceutical and diagnostics industries for more than 15 years. The company will integrate and standardize its activities into a single global scientific team through the transaction with Discovery's North American IHC and pathology laboratories.
