Early in 2020, economists were optimistic about the global economy. Manufacturing recessions were expected to end and markets projected to stabilise. In the UK, a new government was looking to put Brexit uncertainties to rest and “level-up” the UK. The Covid-19 pandemic however very quickly brought the world to an instant halt and whilst recent months have seen lock-downs eased or lifted across the globe, “returning to normal” is taking a little while.
