Technical Guidelines for Renewable Energy Projects in Areas with Steep Slopes

Meet The Law - Energy & Climate Change

On this page

On January 26, the Mission Structure for the Licensing of Renewable Energy Projects 2030 published, in collaboration with various entities, a document with technical guidelines aimed at harmonizing criteria and streamlining the licensing of Renewable Energy Projects in Areas with Steep Slopes.

The document presents two guidelines:

1. Technical Guideline 1 - Slopes greater than 25%: this threshold serves as a technical signaling criterion, not an automatic exclusion criterion, requiring in-depth analysis and mitigation measures (such as soil preservation measures, adapted drainage, and maintenance of vegetation cover).

2. Technical Guideline 2 - Reinforcement of monitoring: strict compliance with monitoring plans and creation of a national database for continuous assessment of the effectiveness of the mitigation measures adopted.

These guidelines fall within the Legal Framework for Environmental Impact Assessment  and the objectives of the National Energy and Climate Plan 2030, reinforcing environmental sustainability.

For more information, see the guidelines here.
