Protests are everywhere. There are protests on the streets and outside business premises. There are protests online. Your workforce is protesting. Even litigation is being used as a means of protest. This is the Season of Protest. And it’s likely only to get more intense.
In responding to protests directed against them, businesses need to take proportionate and appropriate action. They may need to take stock in order to reassess their operations. They also need to know and understand the legal responses available to address protests in their various forms, the reputational risk which attaches and the wider implications.
In this webinar we will address the issues relating to:
- Physical protests - on your land or outside your premises causing disruption to your business and/or intimidating your employees – how do you take preventative action against them including where you don't know the identities of the people involved?
- Online protests – using the internet to protest based on inaccurate, misinformed or fantastical information – how do you track down and take effective action against those responsible?
- Litigation as protest –the litigation process can be both a shield and a sword in a protest strategy – what tactics can you adopt to deal with this and the risks arising, including the reputational risks?
- Employees as protesters – in addition to strike action, which (notwithstanding the train strikes) is relatively rare in the private sector, your employees have an insight into your business which third parties don’t – what happens when they blow the whistle on you but have a misinformed or other agenda?
We will also address the common issues which arise in these situations, including considering the reputational consequences of action and how you go about responding rapidly and coordinating carefully in what are usually very challenging circumstances.
