CMS Portugal continues to see its work recognised in the Leaders League directory, with 43 individual nominations in 16 categories.
This year, Leaders League introduced the Venture Capital category, in which the Corporate M&A team is recognised as ‘Highly Recommended’, as are its partners, João Caldeira, Tiago Valente de Oliveira, Margarida Vila Franca and Francisco Xavier de Almeida.
The Energy & Climate Change team and its partners, Mónica Carneiro Pacheco, Manuel Cassiano Neves and Bernardo Cunha Ferreira, have obtained the highest distinction, ‘Leading’, in the ‘Energy Law’ category for the second consecutive year.
Also noteworthy is the entry into the ranking of partners Tiago Machado Graça, in Tax Law, and José Manuel Silva Nunes, in Real Estate, both as ‘Highly Recommended’.

The Banking & Finance practice area is considered ‘Highly Recommended,’ with two lawyers standing out: António Payan Martins and Francisco Xavier de Almeida, who remain in the ranking as ‘Highly Recommended.’
- Civil & Commercial Litigation
The Dispute Resolution practice area is once again considered ‘Excellent’, with three lawyers standing out: Rita Gouveia, Nuno Pena and Gonçalo Madeira, all considered “Excellent” in the ranking.
- Tax Law
The Tax Law practice area is considered ‘Highly Recommended’, with Tiago Machado Graça standing out as ‘Highly Recommended’. Patrick Dewerbe and Nuno Santos, who also remain in the ranking, were both considered ‘Highly Recommended’.
- Data Privacy and Data Protection
The TMC – Technology, Media & Communications practice area is considered “Excellent”, with João Leitão Figueiredo also considered ‘Excellent’ in this category.
- International Arbitration
The Dispute Resolution practice area is considered ‘Highly Recommended’, with three lawyers standing out: Rita Gouveia, Nuno Pena, and Gonçalo Madeira, considered ‘Highly Recommended’ by Leaders League.
- Private Equity
The Corporate M&A practice area is considered ‘Highly Recommended’ for Private Equity, with four lawyers maintaining the ‘Highly Recommended’ distinction: Francisco Xavier de Almeida, João Caldeira, Margarida Vila Franca and Tiago Valente de Oliveira.
- IP Litigation
The Intellectual Property practice area is considered ‘Excellent’, with emphasis on: João Leitão Figueiredo and Miguel Quintans, both considered ‘Excellent’.
- Labour & Employment
The Employment, Labour & Pensions practice is considered “Excellent”, with emphasis on three lawyers: Susana Afonso, Sofia Mateus and João Paulo Gomes, also considered ‘Excellent’.
- Corporate M&A
The Corporate M&A practice area is considered ‘Excellent’, with four lawyers also rated as ‘Excellent’: Francisco Xavier de Almeida, João Caldeira, Margarida Vila Franca and Tiago Valente de Oliveira,
- Real Estate
