Borja Vázquez holds the role of Counsel within the Markets and Financial Services department of CMS Albiñana & Suárez de Lezo, joining the team in 2023 from a major international law firm in which he spent a large part of his career.

He was also a secondee in the legal department for one of the main international financial institutions operating in Spain.

Relevant experience

Borja has extensive experience in providing advice on banking and finance law, having participated in all kinds of financing, refinancing, and restructuring transactions, as well as in project finance transactions across different areas, particularly in real estate and infrastructure, acting as both advisor to the financing entities and to the financed entities and sponsors. He has also advised creditors and debtors in debt restructuring transactions of some of Spain's leading companies and has noteworthy expertise in the sale and purchase of non-strategic assets of financial institutions, including non-performing loans, real estate assets and management platforms.
