The Government’s White Paper is split into six areas (in line with its Call for Evidence for the review of the Gambling Act 2005). Set out below is a summary of the Government’s proposals in the area of children and young adults.

Society lotteries and football pools: When Parliamentary time allows, the Government intends to legislate to increase the age limit from 16 to 18.

Category D slot machines: The Government will give legislative backing to the current voluntary measures preventing the use of Category D cash-out slot machines by under 18s.

Alcohol-licensed premises: When Parliamentary time allows, the Government will legislate to strengthen licensing authority powers in respect of alcohol-licensed premises by making provisions in the Gambling Commission’s code of practice binding.
