An Initial Coins Offering (ICO) is a fundraising technique facilitated through blockchain and cryptocurrency technologies.

ICOs are reported to have raised several billions in the latest months. Commercial, financial and industrial companies are currently exploring, and some already developing, new blockchain-based solutions and products, most of which can be financed through an ICO.
