Carter and Manuel discussed the use cases of AI within Gaming, including the potential legal, regulatory and commercial considerations. A key takeaway was that whilst « AI » has existed within the sector for a long time, the use and implementation of Generative AI by developers needs to be done so transparently and openly with consumers to ensure positive uptake and reception.
It remains to be seen what impact, if any, the EU AI Act will have on this sector, and further clarificatory guidance is required (particularly in relation to deepfakes) to understand the full scope within the industry.
